CHA Winter 2007 and the future kits February 2, 2007
That is it, I am back from the CHA (one of the biggest leisure and hobby show that is held twice a year).
Being adventurous, I had no idea I was going, till the last minute. I finally went and I have no regrets whatsoever. What an enriching experience! What incredible encounters, and what a great pleasure to see and to talk to so many passionate people that love what they do!
Thanks to Lisa Bearnson, Karen Russell, Heidi Swapp, Elsie Flannigan, Allison Kreft and many others that took their precious time to talk to me or to take pictures.
I want to thank all those who have done make&takes and who made me discover plenty of new techniques and other beautiful things: Creative Imaginations, Ranger, Hampton Art, K&Company, Melissa Frances, KI&Memories and many others that I saw but could not do because I lacked time.
Thanks to all the nice, attentive, patient and professional people that worked at the displays and took orders. Once more, all of you proved to me that you have to live with passion and when we do the things we love we are happy.
Thank you for this excellent experience!
And now a sneak peek for all of those who were not able to go and who waited with impatience for the arrivals of novelties.
First of all, it is absolutely enormous! There are 4 huge rooms with more then 1000 participants and another room with new arrivals. Many make&takes that sometimes change every other hour, beautiful showcases, magnificent pages and altered objects to admire. That is without counting lovely decorations and sweets everywhere. The most fantastic one was Rusty Piscle’s idea of installing chocolate flowing machine.
Oh, how it was good!
Briefly, a lot to see and… to taste apart from new products.
Speaking of new products….
Making Memories has new flowers, rub-ons, alphabets and papers. These are really good products that I liked a lot. There is also the new, soft pastel paint collection.
Karen Foster introduced a new tool to make eyelets. It is pink and easy to use.
Those of you who teach classes will absolutely appreciate the apron from the same company with plenty of pockets to put your tools in.
With the collaboration of KI&Memories Elsie Flannigan made 3 collections (papers, stickers, chipboards, ribbons and rub-ons). It is very funky and very interesting. I think that her fans will not be disappointed.
Cosmo Cricket, Crate Paper, 7 Gypsies introduced new beautiful collections in their style.
There is also one company that is not very known in Quebec but is very interesting: Rusty Pickle. She makes collections in an antique, rustic style.
Once again, American Craft showed plenty of colorful papers and flowers, new alphabets, felt embellishments and ribbons.
Art Glitter…If you like when it sparkles, this company is for you. This will require glue and powder, the rest is up to your imagination. You can use it where you want. This was my great discovery.
Basic Gray. Once more it surpassed itself. 4 magnificent paper collections. This was one of my favorites of the show.
Creative Imaginations. You may be noticed that I adore the products that are made by Karen Russell for Narratives. Once again, she made such beautiful things. There is BE (Bare Elements) that make magnificent albums, boxes etc to alter.
And this time thanks to numerous make&takes made by CI and BE I discovered other lovely collections from this company.
Heidi Swapp displayed plenty of nice accessories that you will surely appreciate.
Daisy D’s… I do not need to be convinced, I adore all these collections and I am absolutely in love with them.
They will match perfectly with the kits I prepared for you.
7Gypsies - beautiful papers and once again teh nice embellishments.
Delish Designs is a new company, but it has already made nice products of great quality.
Fancy Pants…Their new 12x12 stamps stuned me. And again, extraordinary paper collections.
FontWerks, Hampton Atrs, Autumn Leaves…also have new stamps, each one better than the previous. For you to chose.
Autumn Leaves with Foof-a-la and Rhonna Farrer made beautiful collections that you will see in my kits.
Hambly Screen Prints…I can not hide it. I am an absolute fan of this company and their new collections are breathtaking.
K&Compagny – once again many lovely collections for every taste.
My Mind’s Eye – the collection is very soft with nice compliments: transparent frames, cuttings, stickers and this time – buttons.
Prima, Petaloo…Flowers, flowers and once more magnificent flowers. Petaloo even added flower petals to the carpet. And why not, it was very nice to walk on.
Melissa Frances, Sassafras, Maya Road, Junkitz, Queen&Co, Doodlebug, Rouge de Garance introduced really nice novelties.
I noticed that there was a lot of antique, shabby chic and vintage styles.
There is a lot of felt (flowers, alphabets), stamps (Maya Road made many little stamps in her famous metal boxes), scalloped papers ((Bazzill, Creative Imaginations etc), transparencies (Hambly Screen, Autumn Leaves, Rusty Pickle, Creative Imaginations etc) and laces.
I have to stop….There is a lot of others that I did not mention. There is something for every taste. You will surely find your favorites and a lot of inspiration looking at all these beautiful products.
As for me, I will prepare for you magnificent kits. I admit it is not evident. Imagine assembling kits while choosing the products from all these novelties. I was getting up early and going to bed very late. But I succeeded and I am very proud of myself.
You will see beautiful kits full and easy to work with as usual. It for me to rack mine brain and for you now to make pages. My guests! You inspired me a lot. As usual, I make my kits by subject.
Here what you will see…
My March kits had been already made when I saw this new BG collection. I could not resist making a special kit with « Scarlet’s Letter » collection that is really magnificent.
In April- BG, Fancy Pants, Creative Imaginations-plenty of colors to start the spring in joy.
In May – what a beautiful collections of DaisyD’s to celebrate mother’s day.
In June - Fancy Pants, MME and again Daisyd’s – a kit full of sun.
In June – a kit just for girls. How I amused myself making it knowing who would be my guest.
In August – vacations, ocean with beautiful collections of Karen Russell pour Narratives.
What is more – add-ons, books to alter and lovely embelishments.
Are you in hurry?
